Kailey getting ready to leave for St Louis

I would like to thank all of you who stop by and read this site. My brother and sister in law found out they were having another baby. We are all excited since they already had one. Then some things went wrong with her pregnancy. She was due in Febraury of 05. Then we found out she was having a girl. We were all excited once again cause she would have been the first granddaughter and niece in 14 yrs on my brother's side of the family. When she was about 4 or 5 months pregnant, we found out the baby had a RARE ILLNESS called Hydrops. Then 2 days after my sister in law's 18th birthday she went into premature labor. She ended up having my niece on December 3rd at 11:02pm by emergency C-Section. They flew down some specialists from Childern's Hospital in St Louis. They got her stable for the ride. This took about 2 hours. They came in and told us we would be able to see Kailey but only for a minute or two since they thought she wouldnt make the flight. They brought her in for us to see her at 1:00 am. We asked them if my brother could ride in the helicopter they told us they would let him but there wasnt enough room for him. And in the meantime she had a very strong heartbeat, but they were breathing for her. They finally took off with her about 1:30, 1:45 am. We watched them take off and then we headed to St Louis. St Louis is a 2, 2 1/2 hour drive from where we live. Myself, brother, my sister, my sister in law's mom and step father all went to St Louis. We gave them my sister's cell phone number just incase something happened to her while we were on the road. Well they called about an hour or so after they took off and said they made the flight she was doing ok and everything was fine. My sister in law had to stay in the hospital where she had Kailey since she had a C-Section. There was people with her just in case something did happen. When we got the phone call that Kailey was in St Louis and was doing fine we called her at the hospital to let her know. We finally got to the hospital at like 6am that morning. We had to come home and get things before we headed up there. In the mean time my sister in law's mom and step dad got up there before we did. When we got there she wasnt doing very good. Still had a strong heartbeat though, but they were fighting her oxygen level it was giving them a problem it would go up and then down. In the mean time they did have her paralyzed so she couldn't feel any of this. She was in the NICU at the Children's Hospital in St Louis. We all stayed in St Louis for the weekend. My parents, sister, niece, nephew, brother and his girlfriend all came up that Saturday to see Kailey. Some family of my sister in law came up and stayed Saturday night. They finally let my sister in law get discharged from the hospital down here to come up to St Louis so she could be with Kailey. She had to check in at Barnes Hospital In St Louis, which is connected to Childrens. So mother and daughter could be together. All of us went home on a Sunday afternoon. My sister in law was in St. Louis with her side of the family. Kailey made it through the weekend. Tuesday came around and my sister in law called and said Kailey wasnt doing good. So we called my brother and told him he needed to go back to St Louis to be with his wife and daughter. When we got ahold of him it was to late. They called back and said they lost her. What happened is they were takin her off her medicine's to wake her up to see how she would react, and when they did that her lung collasped and sent her into a heart attack. We lost Kailey December 7th 2004. My mom, brother, Trenton (Big Brother), sister and brother in law all went up to St Louis the day she passed away. They got to hold her and take pictures with her as you will see in the photo album page.

My brother and sister in law had their little boy on January 17th, 2006. He was two months early. He weighed 3lbs. 11 ounces, 16 inches long.

Trever is finally at home. He's been home for about a month now. He's doing great.
